Did you know that single-person homeownership has long been led by women?
In 2023, single women accounted for 19% of all homebuyers, according to the National Association of Realtors®. The U.S. Census Bureau also notes that single women own 20.3M homes in the U.S., significantly more than the 14.9M owned by single men.
Additionally, single-female homeownership tends to be in more aged markets, and at least partially reflects the fact that females tend to outlive males and that older females are more likely to be divorced and widowers.
