INT. CAR - LATE AFTERNOON. A frenetic real estate agent navigates lackadaisical pedestrians and aggressive taxi drivers while careening through midtown Manhattan, during rush hour, in an effort to reach AKAM property management before it closes, to supply its property manager with documents he claimed to have had over a month ago or risk adjourning the next day’s closing that took nearly five months to set; all while on a conference call with said manager, his buyer’s attorney, the bank attorney and the loan officer, and simultaneously talking himself down from a panic attack. - how’s that for a pilot opener?
Some deals are easy, but this wasn’t one of them. Nearly everything was an uphill battle, from coordinating virtual showings, to beating out another accepted offer and getting a contract signed by the skim of our teeth, to managing board and loan applications with an out-of-state client, to a properly management switch mid-deal, to the scene I just described above. While I’m thankful this closing came to pass, I’m more thankful that in the process, a really solid client turned into a really good friend.
- Thank you for always trusting me, for the late-night texts about our favorite horror movies that defused the stressful moments of this deal, and for sprinting in the rain to the seller’s attorney’s office with check in-hand at 5:00 PM on a Friday in April to get this contract signed 😂 Your tenacity and type-A personality were dually appreciated! Congratulations! You’re officially a New Yorker!
