Nothing like starting off a Saturday morning with a process server ringing your doorbell! 😆
Don't worry, I'm not in trouble- this is business as usual when it comes to my Smoke and Fire Damaged Home testing services. Unfortunately, I'm frequently called in to gather data when a client has been battling with their insurance company after a claim. I do everything it takes to help my clients, including staying on top of training and certification for developing testing protocols, maintaining and calibrating my testing equipment, working with reputable labs, working closely with toxicologists and public adjusters, and making myself available as a credible and pedagogical expert witness if it comes to that.

Important update from Total Home Inspection.

In recent years, the home inspection software industry has consolidated significantly, which warrants scrutiny. Porch Group, a publicly traded insurance and data company, acquired the two largest home inspection business management platforms in the country. Their CEO stated that inspection data gives them a competitive advantage in insurance underwriting. Spectora, a leading report-writing platform, accepted outside investment, acquired HomeGauge, and formed exclusive partnerships with private equity-backed companies. As a result, the software most inspectors use is now closely tied to insurance companies, venture capital firms, and institutional investors whose interests go far beyond your inspection.

You deserve to understand how I am responding.

Over the next few weeks, Total Home Inspection is moving to fully locally hosted inspection software, independent payment processing, and scheduling. Your report data, property information, and personal details will be stored on our systems, not on third-party servers, vendor clouds, or with companies that have competing financial interests.

To be transparent, this transition may result in reports that look slightly less polished for a time, and booking or payment may be less streamlined. I am prioritizing the security of your data over a glossy interface. This tradeoff reflects my values as a small business owner, and I believe it agrees with yours as my client as well.
