What I’d tell anyone thinking about moving to Erie, Colorado:
1. The Parade of Lights on Briggs Street in downtown Erie is worth bundling up for in December. Louisville lights up Main Street the same season, so you can do both.
2. The ice rink at the Steinbaugh Pavilion on Front Street in Louisville opens November 21 and runs through February 17. Skates are included, and kids under 4 skate free.
3. Erie has its own outdoor rink at Coal Creek Park, right downtown. No reservations needed and skate rental is included, but it’s card only, so leave the cash at home.
4. Skip I-25 at 5pm. 287 is usually the easier drive home.
5. Check the CU Buffs home schedule before you plan anything in Boulder on a fall Saturday.
6. DEN is about 35 minutes away, and the Flatiron Flyer from McCaslin Station in Louisville gets you to Union Station in downtown Denver without fighting traffic.
7. Bring the kids to Boo! on Briggs at the end of October, when downtown Erie turns into one big trick-or-treat. And don’t leave Lafayette without a stop at Chocolate Stam.
