Dear Friends,
I am incredibly grateful to President Biden and our FEMA Administrator for working swiftly yesterday to authorize a Major Disaster Declaration for the Marshall Fire. I spoke with White House and our FEMA Administrator yesterday urging that Individual Assistance be added to the Disaster Declaration, and am grateful that it has been included today. Given the rapid escalation and destruction the need for federal support is urgent.
Residents and business owners who sustained losses in the designated counties can begin applying for assistance tomorrow by registering online at http://www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for the hearing and speech impaired. The toll-free telephone numbers will operate from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. (local time) seven days a week until further notice.
Assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the disaster. Damage assessments are continuing in other areas, and more counties and additional forms of assistance may be designated after the assessments are fully completed.
As further guidance on assistance through this Declaration is made available, we will continue to work with our federal partners to ensure every Coloradan impacted by these unprecedented events has the resources to access aid and fully recover.
If you have questions about assistance or need help with replacing federal documents, please call our office at: (303) 335-1045
