I’m prepared for complex and unexpected hurdles.
I’m calm and collected during negotiations. I’m always ready to find solutions and create transparency where there’s ambiguity.
What I was not prepared for was how emotional I would become about my clients’ journey.
This one came to our team through an incredible referral partner who first called Karl and shared just a little of what this family needed. His response was essentially, “I know just the woman for the job.”
I don’t think either of us knew then just how much these people would come to mean to me.
When I met them, they had one priority: to be reunited.
Without sharing a story that isn’t mine to tell, I knew that translated to time.
Time already lost.
Time preparing.
Time waiting.
Time apart.
Time rushed.
Time calculated.
Every little detail of time mattered.
And when someone trusts you with something that precious, you don’t just promise to understand the assignment. You do everything you can to deliver on it.
Until, finally, it was time to say goodbye.
So instead of sharing the traditional closing photo of my wonderful clients, who I was absolutely not going to ask to pose after a grueling final day of packing, I’m sharing the very first picture I took of 367 Mattox.
Because this home meant time.
Father Time. Family time. Grief time. Joy time.
It held a family legacy that began long before I ever walked through the door, and I understood that selling it meant honoring what had been built there while finding the courage to begin something new.
In those final hours, watching this little family leave together for their next chapter, I found myself incredibly grateful to have been trusted with even a small part of their journey.
And before they left, we took cuttings from a very special Althea bush with roots in generations before them, so a little piece of home could travel with them.
Because moving forward doesn’t mean leaving everything behind.
Sometimes you carry the best pieces with you, plant them somewhere new, and trust that they’ll grow.
To Lauren who trusted our team with this family, thank you. I know you get the honor of helping them finish this journey on Friday.
And Karl, thank you for hearing just a little of their story and saying, “I know just the woman for the job.” This one changed me a little.
Natalie and John, thank you for trusting me with your home, your time, and this chapter of your family’s story. And sweet little E., you completely stole my heart. 🤍
As you close on your new home Friday, I hope you know that in watching the three of you finally leave here together, I got to witness something very simple and very beautiful:
Home really is where the heart is.
And yours is finally all in one place. 🤍
