With hurricane season here we wanted to share a checklist to help you prepare for all future storms this season.
🚩 Stay Informed:
Keep an eye on weather forecasts and updates from local authorities.
Sign up for emergency alerts and notifications from your local government.
🚩 Emergency Supplies:
Stock up on non-perishable food, water, medications, and essential supplies to last several days. Include a first aid kit, flashlights, batteries, a multi-tool, and a battery-operated weather radio.
🚩 Secure Your Property:
Trim trees and shrubs around your home to prevent potential damage from falling branches. Reinforce doors and windows with storm shutters or plywood. Clear gutters and drains to prevent water buildup.
🚩 Important Documents:
Gather and store important documents like insurance policies, IDs, and property records in a waterproof container.
🚩 Backup Power:
If feasible, invest in a generator to ensure power supply during outages.
🚩 Secure Outdoor Items:
Bring in or secure outdoor furniture, decorations, and other items that could become projectiles in high winds.
🚩 Evacuation Plans:
Know the designated evacuation routes in your area.
Plan where you will go if you need to evacuate, whether it's a shelter, friend's house, or hotel.
🚩 Communication:
Keep your cell phone charged and have a backup charging option.
🚩 Gas and Vehicles:
Keep your vehicles fueled in case of evacuation. Store extra fuel safely if possible.
