Bingo! Twice.

We spent Saturday afternoon at Bingo in the parish hall at Our Mother of Good Counsel on Vermont, and Sarah won two games.

Long tables, a big screen calling the numbers, and a table covered in daubers.
It is one of our favorite ways to spend a Saturday in Los Feliz.

The next one is Saturday, November 14 at 5:00 PM.

Happy 100th, Shakespeare Bridge.

Franklin Hills showed up today.
A band playing under the arch on Monon Street, neighbors at every table, and the big pink tree in full bloom right on cue.

A little history for anyone who walked under it today:
Built in 1926.
Named Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument No. 126 in 1974.
Rebuilt after the Northridge earthquake and reopened in 1998, with its Gothic towers kept just as they were.

Thank you to the Franklin Hills Residents Association and every volunteer who put this together.

Today is World Mental Health Day.

The people we call heroes spend their days carrying other people's hardest moments. Firefighters, nurses, teachers, officers, service members. Behind every uniform and every classroom door is a person whose own well-being matters just as much.

If that is you, or someone you love, you do not have to carry it alone. The 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline is free and open 24/7 by call or text. Veterans and service members can press 1 to reach the Veterans Crisis Line.

Check on the helpers in your life today.

Heroes take care of Los Feliz, so we take care of them. 🚒

Rooster Homes adopted our neighborhood fire station, LAFD Station 35 in Los Feliz Village at 1601 Hillhurst Ave. We are raising funds for the appliances and renovation the crew needs.

Every gift goes to Station 35 through the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation. Give here: https://supportlafd.donorsupport.co/p2p/teams/NDTPMYQD

Thank you for standing with the firefighters who protect our neighborhood.

Today is National Fire Prevention Day, and it lands in the middle of the season when we think about fire most here in the hills.

A few things worth doing this weekend:
Test your smoke alarms.
Check that your fire extinguisher is charged and easy to reach.
Clear dry brush and leaves away from the house.
Walk your family through your escape plan.

To the firefighters and fire prevention crews who teach this all year and respond when it matters, thank you. Our neighbors at Fire Station 35 have our gratitude every day, not just today. ❤️🚒

When we serve, you succeed.

Happy National Physician Assistants Day. 🩺

PAs are often the person who actually sits down with you, listens, and explains what is going on. They diagnose, treat, and follow up, and they do it with a patience that patients remember.

To the physician assistants in every hospital and clinic across Los Angeles, thank you for the care you give.

Healthcare workers are one of the hero groups we serve through Homes for Heroes. When a PA buys or sells with Rooster Homes, they can save thousands through Hero Rewards.

When we serve, you succeed.

Happy World Teachers' Day. ✏️

Think back to the teacher who changed something for you. Maybe they saw something in you before you did, or they made a subject finally click.

Teachers do that every day, for kids who may not realize it for years. To the teachers in Los Feliz and across Los Angeles who show up early, stay late, and care this much, thank you.

We are Homes for Heroes affiliates, which means when a teacher buys or sells a home with Rooster Homes, they can save thousands through Hero Rewards. It is a small way to say thank you for a very big job.

When we serve, you succeed.

It's Fire Prevention Week, and here is one thing worth doing this week: test your smoke alarms.

Press the test button on each one. If it chirps weak or stays quiet, replace the battery or the alarm. While you are at it, walk your family through two ways out of every room and pick a meeting spot outside.

Living in the hills near Griffith Park, fire readiness is part of life in Los Feliz. Ten minutes this week can make a real difference for the people you love.

And to the firefighters who teach this every single year, thank you. 🚒

When we serve, you succeed.
