New pastime unlocked: solo summer architectural tours featuring the Gamble House
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Cliff notes: During the peak of Tuberculosis, where “fresh air” was the only known cure, Pasadena became a magnet with California weather being central to indoor-outdoor living. Enter, the Gamble House; built by the Green’s in under two years with strong influences from the Arts & Crafts movement and Japan. The house was completed in 1910 for a $50,000 commission and a build time of less than two years.
