On a Day Like Today ~ September 19, 2018. Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace, on behalf of THR Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, announced the marriage engagement of Lady Gabriella Windsor to Mr. Thomas Kingston.
The announcement stated: "Prince and Princess Michael of Kent are delighted to announce the engagement of their daughter Lady Gabriella Windsor to Mr. Thomas Kingston. The engagement took place in August, Mr. Kingston proposed on the Isle of Sark."
Lady Gabriella was born in April 1981 at St Mary's Hospital in London as the 2nd child and only daughter of HRH Prince Michael of Kent and his wife Baroness Marie Christine von Reibnitz, more commonly known as HRH Princess Michael of Kent. Not only is Gabriella a 2nd cousin of HM King Charles III but she is also his 2nd cousin-once-removed as her paternal grandmother, HRH Princess Marina, The Duchess of Kent (née Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark), was a first cousin of King Charles' father, HRH Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh.
Thomas was born in late June 1978 as a son of Martin Kingston and his wife Jill Mary Kingston née Bache. Thomas is a Bristol University graduate and financier.
On this day in 2018 their marriage engagement was announced, and the couple married in May 2019 at St. George's Chapel, Windsor. Sadly Mr. Kingston took his own life in late February 2024. The marriage did not produce any children.
Lady Gabriella is not a working member of the Royal family; however, she is often seen at family events such as weddings, funerals, Christmas Luncheon and, up until 2019 was seen on the Buckingham Palace balcony for Trooping the Colour. Most recently she attended the State Funeral of HM Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022 as well the Coronation of HM King Charles III in May 2023. She also privately joined non-working family members at the 2024 Trooping the Colour Day as well as day one of Royal Ascot 2024.
