Pet Food Distribution

During these unprecedented times, it is important to provide a resource for low-income families and residents of Los Angeles that are experiencing financial hardship who need assistance to feed their animal companion. In response to the increasing need, the Los Angeles Animal Services will be expanding the Pet Food Pantry program from twice a month to every Sunday from 1 PM to 4 PM.

Residents interested in participating in the Pet Food Pantry must be the pet’s owner and will need to register by going online to obtain an appointment at one of two locations: Chesterfield Square or East Valley. If you are unable to go online, you may call our Pet Food Pantry line for Chesterfield Square at (213) 326-2788 or the Pet Food Pantry line for East Valley at (213) 264-8985 to register and make an appointment.

Downpayment Resources:

1) State of CA -

1. California's Golden State Finance Authority - GSFA’s Platinum Program provides applicants with down payment and/or closing cost assistance in the form of a non-repayable grant up to 5 percent of the total loan amount. This is a gift in the true sense, which means it is not a second mortgage, does not create a lien against the property, and there are no terms for repayment.

2. CalHFA - MyHome provides a deferred-payment junior loan - up to 3.5% of the purchase price, or appraised value, whichever is less, to be used for their down payment and/or closing costs. This program must be combined with a CalHFA first mortgage loan.

2) County of LA -

1. HOP loans are available in the unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County and cities participating in the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Urban County Program. HOP Second Trust Deed provides up to 20% of the purchase price for down payment and closing costs assistance not to exceed $75,000.

3) City of LA -

1. LIPA - You may be eligible for up to $90,000 in financial assistance if you are a first-time, low income homebuyer. Learn more.

You may be eligible for up to $60,000 in financial assistance if you are a first-time, moderate income homebuyer.
