This past Sunday I was honored to co-sponsor a neighborhood block party alongside the Woodland Hills Neighborhood Collective.
What the WHNC has shown, alongside the advocacy of LA City Councilman Bob Blumenfield Bob Blumenfield, and support of other organizations like WHLA and Santa Monica Mountains is that our collective voices are effective - especially when it comes to things like a proposed high-density development in a designated Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone (VHFHSZ) with limited ingress and egress.
It’s easy to label this as “NIMBY-ism" but for local residents - the people that truly understand the area, it’s about protecting our natural wildlife, prioritizing safety, and thinking through the real impacts that certain types of development can have on a community.
High-density development makes sense in areas with the infrastructure to support it...places like Warner Center, and other area with actual commercial corridors...in neighborhoods like South Woodland Hills where the roads are narrow and winding - not so much.
A special thank you to both Councilman Blumenfield and CD3 candidate Tim Gaspar Tim Gaspar for coming out and speaking to the neighborhood on future development and other issues here in West San Fernando Valley.
