Youth from the LAPD Jr. Cadets Program at the Mission Hills Community Police Station in Mission Hills enjoy after-school art lessons. Art supplies, provided by the Rickey & Robbi Gelb Charitable Foundation, Inc., are coupled with instruction by art teacher Freba Mehman, owner of the Northridge Art Studio. Pictured (L to R): Officer Melissa Sanchez, Freba Mehamn, Carol Salazar Loweree, Coco Dolenz, Captain III Garrett Payton, and Officer Marco Mendoza. Officers Sanchez and Mendoza, along with Ms. Loweree, head the program. Coco Dolenz, representing the Gelb Foundation, enjoyed watching the budding artists. Captain Payton welcomed the Jr. Cadets and thanked all involved for providing such an invaluable opportunity to the youth.

The Ricky & Robbi Gelb Charitable Foundation was a proud sponsor of the Golden Apple Award at the 6th Annual Heroes in Education Awards Celebration hosted by the North Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce. Mary Melvin, Regional Director of LAUSD, was honored for her unwavering commitment to public education.
The celebration was held on April 23, 2025, in the St. Nicholas Grande Ballroom in Northridge.

Budding Artists

The Rickey & Robbi Gelb Charitable Foundation recently donated a substantial amount of art supplies to the Mission Community Police Station for free art classes generously offered by the Northridge Art Studio.
Here we see students engaged in the remarkable youth program at the station. The Mission Community Police Station fosters community connection and personal growth. Studio owner, Freba Mehman, led the classes.
