Under the current proposal:
Only residents whose net worth exceeds $1 billion would be included so that’s NOT the real reason.

That means ordinary households even those earning very high incomes but with less than $1B in assets would NOT be subject to this tax.

It would certainly hurt California’s budget stability, investment climate & long-term growth far more than it would help, if they do leave but most Support paying more taxes due to their top 1% income. The other’s are mainly actors leaving simply to capitalize on more money elsewhere due to high costs in our state while blaming anybody else on their way out to throw people off how cheap they are.

About 45–55% of tax filers owe $0 in state income tax in a typical year and are low-income or modest-income wage earners which is why all of our other taxes are so high trying to compensate because those taxes are paid by all with a relatively smaller group carrying most of the state income-tax load.

In California, someone earning: 45k–60k
is often financially strained, not “middle class” in practical terms so no state tax.

Regardless of how much the state government incentivizes low income earners, the cost of living in California is way too high being the MAIN PROBLEM so they are the ones that are leaving and also the actual state income taxpayers that are beyond strained paying for ALL but not the billionaires over a law that hasn’t even passed yet.

The Homeowners’ Exemption is a Statewide California property tax benefit, administered by each county assessor.

In most California counties:
• 🏠 You must own and occupy the home as your principal residence as of January 1
• 📅 The filing deadline is February 15
• ⏳ If you miss February 15, you can usually still file by December 10 for a reduced exemption

Each county processes it locally, but the rules and deadlines are set under California law.


• ✅ February 15 is standard across California ALL counties🎉
• ⚠️ But always confirm with the local county assessor’s website if outside L.A. If you don’t know if you have a homeowner’s exemption status, privately, send me your address and I can assist you.
