As a child, the teen was diagnosed with a rare condition known as lymphedema, which causes extreme fluid buildup and abnormal tissue growth. By her late teens, one leg had swollen to an extraordinary 174 pounds, making it difficult for her to walk, go to school, or live on her own. In 2023, a specialized surgical team carried out a life changing operation to remove the excess tissue, following months of preparation and many hours in surgery. Doctors said it was one of the most severe cases of lymphedema ever recorded.
The procedure did more than reduce the physical weight she had been carrying. It also helped lower the risk of infections and long term strain on her body. Recovery required intensive rehabilitation as she began learning how to move, balance, and live in a way she had never experienced before π
