Healthy pets are part of a healthy community. 🐾

At our recent Pet Wellness Event, spcaLA brought their staff, volunteers, and medical team to provide free vaccines and flea medication for the pets of our neighbors.

For people experiencing homelessness, access to veterinary care can make a meaningful difference in keeping their pets healthy and by their side.

Thank you, spcaLA, for bringing your time, expertise, and care to the Los Angeles Mission and helping us support both our neighbors and the pets they love. 💙

Sometimes making a difference starts with something as simple as seeing the person in front of you.

We asked Geneva, one of our Volunteer Ambassadors, “What is it about what the Los Angeles Mission does that resonates with you?”

For Geneva, serving at the Los Angeles Mission is about showing up genuinely, listening, and treating every neighbor with dignity and respect. Her answer is a reminder of the meaningful connections that can happen when we take the time to truly see and hear one another.

That same spirit is carried by the volunteers, donors, staff, and supporters who make our work possible every day. 🙌

More than 1,000 veterans and their families have now moved into permanent housing through Los Angeles’ House Our Vets initiative.

This milestone is a reminder that when communities, nonprofit organizations, housing providers, and public partners work together, lives can be transformed. Stable housing creates the foundation for healing, hope, and a fresh start.

Every veteran deserves a safe place to call home, and we’re encouraged to see progress toward ending veteran homelessness in Los Angeles.

A few more faces, paws, and people who made our Pet Wellness Event so special. 🐾💙

This day was made possible by the donors, partners, volunteers, and organizations who showed up with one shared goal: helping our neighbors care for the pets who mean so much to them.

From essential pet care to food, supplies, and helpful resources, every contribution played a part in making support more accessible for pets and their families.

Humanity shows up in the way we care for one another.

This World Humanitarian Day, we’re celebrating the people who give their time, resources, compassion, and encouragement to help others move forward.

At the Los Angeles Mission, that impact can be seen from many perspectives. It’s felt by our neighbors who receive care, by graduates who found support when they needed it most, and by donors and volunteers who discover just how meaningful it can be to show up for someone else.

We’re also grateful for the partners, organizations, and community members who work alongside us to make this care possible. Thank you for continuing to show up for our neighbors and our community. ❤️🙌

Every person has something to give, and every act of care can help create hope for what comes next.

One of the best parts of volunteering is seeing the impact unfold in front of you. 🙌

From serving meals to sharing smiles, every shift is a reminder of what a caring community can accomplish together.

For nearly 90 years, the Los Angeles Mission has brought people together to serve our neighbors, one meal at a time.

A nonprofit is more than an organization. It’s people showing up for people. 🤝

Connection is knowing someone cares, a meal is dignity, care is meeting someone where they are, shelter is stability, and opportunity is a path forward.

On National Nonprofit Day, we’re grateful for every donor, volunteer, partner, and supporter who helps make this work possible.

Together, we’re helping break the cycle of homelessness.

A celebration of skills, growth, and what comes next!

Eight women recently celebrated the completion of the 10-week Dough Girl culinary program in partnership with the Anne Douglas Center for Women at the Los Angeles Mission.

Throughout the program, participants built hands-on culinary skills, from sanitation and food safety to knife skills, kitchen tools, and meal preparation, while also developing skills that support recovery, confidence, and rebuilding their lives.

Their Culinary Culmination brought everyone together for one final showcase, where the graduates put what they learned into action with an Italian-inspired Pasta Toss and shared the moment with the people who supported them along the way. 🍝

A special thank you to Dough Girl for partnering with us to invest in these women, share your expertise, and create opportunities for them to build skills they can carry into their next chapter.

Congratulations to all eight graduates! 💙
