Design Notes #1: Plant early.

One of the biggest mistakes we see is waiting until the very end of a project to install the landscaping.

The earlier you can get your trees, hedges, and planting in the ground, the better. While the house is coming together, your landscape is establishing itself too. By the time construction is complete, everything feels fuller, softer, and more inviting instead of looking like it was all planted yesterday.

A great landscape isn’t just about what you plant. It’s about giving it time to grow.

We always say plumbing fixtures are the jewelry of a home. They’re small in scale, but they have an outsized impact on how a space feels.

That’s one of the reasons we love working with Watermark Designs Every detail is thoughtfully considered… from the faucets and air gaps to the angle stops, linear drains, flush plates, and every finishing touch in between. Having a complete collection allows every element to feel intentional and cohesive.

We’ve gotten a lot of questions about the exterior of this home and what inspired it.

The vision was never just to create beautiful outdoor spaces. It was to blur the line between indoors and out, making the landscape feel like part of the architecture itself.

Every detail was considered—from the outdoor kitchen by Kalamazoo Outdoor Gourmet , the private sauna, and the imported stone soaking tub by OLIVE ATELIERS , outdoor furniture that feels like you pulled your living room furniture outside from Arhaus to the natural materials that tie each structure together. The goal was to create a seamless experience where every space feels connected, allowing the Bel-Air and ocean views to become part of everyday living.

We wanted the exterior to feel as intentional, livable, and restorative as the interiors. Because the best homes aren’t defined by where the walls end—they’re defined by how they make you live.
