Someone in my comments really thought this was a gotcha… 🥸

And honestly, it’s a perfect example of why not all debt is created equal.

Comparing a mortgage to carrying $500K on a credit card isn’t really an apples-to-apples comparison. One is typically financing an asset that typically appreciate over a long period of time. 🙏 The other is revolving consumer debt at a much higher interest rate. 💀

That doesn’t mean every mortgage is automatically “good debt,” or that buying a home is always the right financial move. Your payment still needs to make sense for your income, goals and timeline.

But when you’re talking about debt, the better question isn’t simply “Is debt bad?”

It’s “What am I borrowing for, what does it cost me, and what am I getting in return?”

Because there’s a pretty big difference between financing an asset with historical appreciation and putting $500K on a credit card. 😂
