A few thoughts I was having while preparing for today’s Open House; When I first started out in Real Estate, I can’t even tell you how many other agents told me to focus on listings and not focus on buyers. From the day I started studying for my Real Estate exam I had been so excited about working with buyers, so this was surprising information to me, I didn’t really understand it, and frankly it made me feel like a dummy who was naive. The way it was explained to me was that listings get you more business and buyers will waste your time. I never fully bought into this idea, but it stayed in the back of my mind as I learned more about real estate and got more hands on experience. Now that I’ve been in the industry for two years, I can confidently say that this has more to do with those agents and their personalities than it does with my reality. I personally LOVE working with buyers. The excitement of helping them find their new home, the appreciation they show when you take the time to walk them through the process, its very satisfying. I’m essentially helping them start a new life, and it’s infinitely exciting. I’ll check back in in another couple years, but currently I’m very satisfied to know that my initial excitement actually was very in line with my personal values!
