We're excited to share a look at what's coming later this year!

4301 Vermont will bring a planned 188 units to South Los Angeles, slated for installation in late 2026. The building includes apartments, a community space, ground-floor retail, and the same factory-built quality we will be delivering at our 6200 Broadway project in May.

We're just getting started. More projects in the pipeline for 2026 and beyond. 👀

Our Fire Relief ADU initiative began with our mission to support those impacted by the LA fires so they can return, recover, and remain in their communities. And we’ve been able to bring that mission to life.

Happy May 1st from the Model/Z team.

We're heading into a big month at 6200 Broadway in South LA, and the building is starting to show its final form. Exterior finishing details are going up now, bringing the 66-unit, 5-story project closer to completion.

After the Eaton Fire, families in Altadena are finally back in a space that feels like home, and we had the opportunity to be part of making that happen alongside an incredible group of partners.

You can talk about speed, efficiency, and innovation all day, but this is what it comes down to. Real people, real homes, and a community coming back together sooner than anyone expected.

We’re proud to have been part of it and grateful to everyone who showed up to make it possible.

Two Eaton Fire survivors are coming home.

On Thursday, April 16, The SoLa Foundation and partners will host the Altadena ADU Homecoming Celebration in Altadena, welcoming Ms. Carolyn and Ms. Ana back to their properties after more than 40 years in the community. They are among the first residents to receive factory-built ADUs at no cost through the Restore and Rebuild Initiative, allowing them to return home rather than remain in temporary housing.

Model/Z is proud to be part of this effort alongside SoCalNOMA, the Altadena Rebuild Coalition, and the broader coalition of partners working on fire recovery in the region.

As we enter Q2 of 2026 we're excited to share 600+ modular units are scheduled for er****on in the next 12 to 18 months!

In the meantime, we've been busy. Here’s what we accomplished in Q1.

- Two families in Altadena returned to their land with new homes delivered through The SoLa Foundation’s Restore and Rebuild Initiative at no cost to the homeowners. They arrived fully built and set on a foundation in a matter of hours.

- We shipped our 500th modular unit in under two years. LIHTC-compliant 1, 2, and 3-bedroom modules are coming this year.

- We launched Z/Suite and opened early access to Z/Suite, our AI-powered planning platform built specifically for multifamily development.

Model/Z’s VP of Engineering, Aman Patel, joined a panel at Bisnow ’s LA Multifamily & Affordable Housing Summit to discuss how technology and manufacturing are reshaping housing delivery.

The conversation focused on what it takes to build faster and more efficiently at scale, from integrating modular construction into traditional development pipelines to using AI-driven tools earlier in the process to reduce timelines, costs, and risk.

Being a maverick or a disruptor sounds glamorous. Our Founder, Martin Muoto, is the first to say it's really about rolling up your sleeves to question why the status quo is not working. He has dedicated the last 15 years of his career to finding real solutions to California's housing crisis.

Over the last 3+ years, the SoLa Impact and Model/Z teams have built and delivered 24 buildings across Southern California for an average well under $300k per door. Many said, and still say, it cannot be true. But we have the receipts and the scars to prove it can be done. Martin has become convinced the only way to truly scale what developers like us do is through volumetric, modular construction. That's why he started Model/Z.

This award recognizes the work of hundreds of individuals at SoLa Impact and Model/Z who work on this mission every day. Despite many setbacks and challenges, we continue to make incredible progress.

Monday's installation in Altadena was covered live by FOX 11 Los Angeles.

The Sola Foundation deployed two Model/Z steel-frame modular homes for families displaced by the fires, at no cost to the homeowners. Because these units are factory-built and designed for fast deployment, families can remain on their own land while the longer rebuilding process unfolds.

"This modular tech could be the future of speeding up disaster recovery." — Local officials, as reported by FOX 11 Los Angeles.

Monday in Altadena, two Model/Z ADUs were craned onto the properties of homeowners displaced by last year's LA fires.

These units are part of The SoLa Foundation Restore and Rebuild Initiative and were granted at no cost to the homeowners receiving them. Watching a home arrive in one piece and land on a foundation in a matter of hours is a direct demonstration of how quickly families can return to their land while rebuilding continues.

We'll be back on April 9 for the formal ribbon-cutting and community celebration welcoming these residents home.
