Honouring Our Own Rhythm

Allowing ourselves the freedom to slow down, doing only what feels right for us, is an act of self-respect in a world that often demands so much more from us than we can manage.

It means releasing the pressure to keep pace with everyone else and trusting that our own rhythm is enough.

When we slow down, we create space to listen to our inner voice, to notice what brings us peace, what drains our energy, and what truly matters.

Rather than acting from obligation, expectation, or fear of letting others down, we begin making choices that align with our own needs and values.

This freedom is not about giving up or withdrawing from life; it is about moving through life more intentionally.

It is allowing ourselves to rest when we are tired, to say no when something does not feel right, and to pursue what nourishes our spirit without guilt.

In that slower pace, clarity often emerges. We become less concerned with proving ourselves and more focused on being present, honoring our limits, and appreciating the simple moments that might otherwise pass unnoticed.

Granting ourselves this grace is a reminder that our worth is not measured by how much we accomplish in a day.

Sometimes the most meaningful thing we can do is pause, breathe, and trust ourselves enough to follow the path that feels more genuine for us.

September through December might just be my favorite time of year at Our Lakeside Happy Place.

The summer crowds are gone, the air is a little cooler, the golf courses are beautiful, and the sunsets over the lake seem even more peaceful.

It’s the season for morning coffee on the porch, evenings around the fire pit, football weekends, scenic drives, golf getaways, visiting family, exploring East Tennessee, or simply slowing down for a few days.

Whether you’re coming to visit loved ones in Tellico Village, checking out the area before a move, working nearby, escaping for a long weekend, or looking for a cozy home base while building or renovating, this little corner of Loudon has a way of making people feel at home.

Our Lakeside Happy Place is close to Knoxville, Tellico Lake, beautiful golf courses, hiking, the Smokies, and so many of the things that make East Tennessee special.
