Good Morning all! Here is a list of what you need to do after closing.
✅ Immediate To-Dos (Within the First Week)
1. Secure All Documents
• Store closing documents (deed, bill of sale, title insurance, loan docs) in a safe place—preferably a fireproof safe or digital backup.
2. Change the Locks & Codes
• Replace all exterior door locks.🔒
• Reset garage door codes, alarm system, smart locks, etc. 🚨
3. Transfer Utilities
• Make sure all utilities are transferred to your name:
• Electricity
• Gas
• Water/sewer
• Trash/recycling
• Internet & cable
4. Update Your Address
• USPS: File a change of address.
• Banks, credit cards, insurance, DMV, employer, subscriptions, etc.
5. Set Up Security
• Consider a home security system if one isn’t already installed.
• Check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
6. Take Photos 📸
• Before moving in furniture, take photos for your records (insurance, condition, and the memory.).
