As you get ready to tag along with the trick-or-treaters in your life or hold down the fort at your front door, here’s a fun fact: Not everyone gets to celebrate the same way. Yep, local laws across the country have their own quirky rules for Halloween!

Check these out:

In Hollywood, California, it’s illegal to buy or use silly string from 12am on October 31st to noon on November 1st. 🎉

Walnut Creek, California requires a permit from the sheriff to wear a mask in public—even on Halloween! Talk about paperwork…📄

In Belleville, Illinois, anyone over 12 is banned from trick-or-treating. (Imagine getting turned away for being too old!) 🍬
