Here’s the reason for the name of my remodeling company. (To be transparent, Alea is helping me craft this post so you can hear our heart behind it.)
My wife and I tossed around ideas last year, and especially as a man, it would have been easy to use my initials or something like Ron Swanson did – Very Good Building Company.
Over the years, we’ve also used the phrase “rooted and grounded in love” from Ephesians 3 with my business. It’s a reminder that helping people with their homes is critical and God-honoring because a home is deeply connected to healthy roots as people. But that phrase is a little long for a name and a shortened version – “R&G” – was already taken.
Then, we started thinking of single words that carried meaning. With our own home, we invested the most in our kitchen and great room because it’s where we spend so much time. We also wanted to host more people in this home. For years, we dreamed about that space more than other parts of the home. Alea hoped for a vaulted ceiling, natural light, and as much of an open concept as she could get. I was excited about lots of prep space in the kitchen and maybe even a breakfast nook in the transition from the kitchen to the living room. We’re so grateful to have made these things happen. I knocked out a half wall, put a support beam in the attic, and rearranged the kitchen layout… and lots of other work and sweat. It’s really become a place we love to gather, cook, eat, sit, and relax in.
My team of contractors and I can do a lot of awesome things to make your home a better fit, but my favorite projects are the spaces where you gather, like your kitchen and great room. Or maybe you’re ready to finish your basement or build an awesome deck. That’s what we like to do at Gather Remodeling.
