Four years ago today, I received one of the worst calls of my life. My big brother was gone.

I was four days past my due date with Colette, anxiously waiting for her arrival, when our entire world changed. I honestly couldn’t comprehend our new reality without Peter.

Being thrown into motherhood immediately after losing someone so incredibly close to you is a powerful lesson on how fragile life can be. You’re grieving a life that was suddenly taken while simultaneously trying to embrace the beautiful new life growing in front of you. It taught me compassion in a way I had never known before and reminded me that, no matter how carefully you make your plans, your entire world can change in a matter of days.

I’m forever grateful for every memory I have with Peter. He truly had the biggest heart and loved his people so fiercely. Pete was the kind of person who would quite literally give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. He was a protector—the kind of person you always wanted looking out for you.

And I know that’s exactly what he’s doing for our family and my kids now, just from a different viewpoint. 🪽

I know some have heard the story of Pierce’s name before, but it still gives me goosebumps thinking about it so I have to share. We found out we were pregnant again when Colette was about 8 months old. This time it was a boy 💙 Todd and I went back and forth on baby boy names but nothing felt quite right until one day the name Pierce just popped into my head while driving. I told Todd and he actually liked it too (it’s hard agreeing on names, iykyk 😅) A couple weeks passed and didn’t think much of it but Todd decided to random google the name Pierce. He called me immediately and asked if I had googled the meaning before. I hadn’t, so I had no idea what he was about to tell me. Straight from Google - “Etymology: Derived from the medieval given name Piers, which is an Old French form of Peter.”

It was a little heaven wink from uncle Pete! We were sold on the name after that 🥰

I miss you, Pete. Four years later, you are still so deeply loved and missed. 🤍

Thank you to my client and friend, Maureen, for the 5 star review! Maureen had a condo to sell that came with some challenges regarding loan types for buyers - I was able to connect her buyer with a lender that was able to secure the loan and get the deal closed! Sometimes it really is about working with someone who has a lot of great connections and that won’t quit until the problem is solved. It was a pleasure helping Maureen sell her condo and now looking forward to getting her to the closing table for her new Mt Washington property! 🏡
