Congratulations to Kent Weyland of Weyland Ventures, recipient of the 2026 Roundtable Luminary Award, announced today at the Family Business Awards & Summit.

This award recognizes a Family Business Center Roundtable participant who consistently contributes meaningful insights, supports fellow members, and strengthens the roundtable experience through active engagement and leadership.

Kent exemplifies the very best of the roundtable experience. He shows up consistently, shares openly, and demonstrates a level of authenticity that has strengthened not only his own leadership journey, but the experience of everyone around him.

In a setting where business and family challenges often intersect, Kent has modeled vulnerability, resilience, and trust. He has shared both victories and hardships, creating space for others to do the same while reminding us all that family business leadership is not a journey we have to navigate alone.

Thank you to Kentucky Historic Travels for the thoughtful spotlight on the historic Hardin County Courthouse in Elizabethtown.

Weyland Ventures is proud to help carry this landmark into its next chapter as a boutique hotel at the center of the Square. The project is rooted in preservation, restoration, and a deep respect for the building’s history, from its terrazzo floors and woodwork to the details that have made it such an important part of downtown Elizabethtown.

More to come as this beautiful building continues its transformation.

💚 I'm adding another KY County Courthouse to my list! This beauty belongs to Hardin County, KY, and is currently undergoing a reformation. The courthouse will soon become a boutique hotel positioned right in the center of their public square.
💛 Hardin County has seen several courthouses throughout its history. The 1st was a log cabin built just west of the square in 1795. The 2nd structure was built in 1806; it was brick, but it seems it may have been too small or poorly laid out. The 3rd courthouse, a 2-story brick building, was built in the center of the square in 1873. A major fire finished its service in 1932.
🤎 That brings us to the building you see today. This Georgian Revival-style courthouse was designed by Thomas J. Nolan of Louisville and was built between 1933 and 1934. It functioned as the county's courthouse until 1997, when a new judicial center was built.
💚 Weyland Ventures website states, "The project will transform the 1930s-era courthouse into an intimate hotel featuring 24 guest rooms and suites, along with dedicated event and gathering space designed to host weddings, meetings, and community events. ... The adaptive reuse project will preserve and restore many of the building’s most significant architectural elements, including terrazzo floors, marble wainscoting, historic wood doors and trim, stained glass, plaster detailing, and the iconic third-floor courtroom volume."
💛 I'll try to remember to keep an eye on this project, just as I did the Hotel Thoroughbed project in Paris. Once it's complete, I'll do everything I can to bring you photos! The Courthouse Hotel is planned to be open in the Spring of 2027.

Before Museum Row was Museum Row...

Thirty years ago, Bill Weyland helped make history.

In 1995, Hillerich & Bradsby purchased the future home of the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory from a joint venture led by Bill Weyland. At the time, West Main Street was just beginning its transformation. Today, it's one of Louisville's most visited destinations, home to museums, bourbon experiences, and the energy that defines our downtown.

We're proud that this milestone is part of Weyland Ventures' story, too.

Congratulations to the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory on 30 years of inspiring visitors from around the world—and helping shape the Louisville we know today.

📣⏰ We’re proud to share the vision for Clockworks — the transformational redevelopment of the former Colgate-Palmolive campus in Clarksville, Indiana.

What was once an iconic industrial site will be reimagined as a mixed-use destination centered around hospitality, sports tourism, entertainment, public gathering spaces, historic preservation, and community connection.

At the heart of the project remains the site’s legendary clock — a symbol of the past and a beacon for what’s ahead.

We’re excited to continue working alongside local and state partners as this vision moves forward.

A new chapter begins at 100 Public Square in Elizabethtown!

The historic Hardin County Courthouse is being thoughtfully reimagined as a 24-room boutique hotel with dedicated event space, bringing new life to one of downtown Elizabethtown’s most iconic buildings.

This redevelopment is led by Weyland Ventures in partnership with Elizabethtown Renaissance Associates. Financing is provided by West Point Bank, with The Cecilian Bank serving as the historic tax credit investor. Bosse Construction is the project’s general contractor.

Celebrating 30 Years of the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory (Hillerich & Bradsby Co.)! ⚾️

Weyland Ventures is proud to recognize this milestone for one of downtown Louisville’s most beloved landmarks.

Our founder, Bill Weyland, played a key role in the project’s development by partnering with the city and Hillerich & Bradsby Co. to bring the iconic bat factory and museum to West Main Street. The move not only brought a beloved brand home, but also helped spark the revitalization of Louisville’s Museum Row.

Fun fact: the 120-foot Big Bat (built by Caldwell Tanks, Inc.) that leans proudly against the building isn’t just for show. It actually serves as a plumbing vent for the restrooms in the basement!

Here’s to 30 years of craftsmanship, history, and home runs for our city!
