We've reached the final step of the Home Buying Roadmap...Closing Day! It's time to sign on the dotted line and become a homeowner. What is Closing Day?

This exciting day wraps up the whole process. It generally takes place at an attorney's office. You will sign legal documents mostly related to your mortgage loan. Your lender will wire the funds for your purchase to the attorney's office, and you will bring any required money as well. The sellers will also be attending to sign their property over to you. Then you'll received the keys to your new home!
You'll need to have the utilities changed to your name, make sure your homeowner's insurance is active, and forward your mail to your new address. It's a great idea to set up a home maintenance program from the start to stay on top of things. You'll also need to file for homestead exemption at the end of the year to get a break on your property taxes.
