About damn time. The federal reserve dropped the rate 50 base points today!! They recklessly raised the rates 11 times in less than 18 months then held it high for over a year with economic data pointing to the higher rate hurting our economy. This crippled the residential real estate industry by making homeownership an impossibility. Every industry is effected by interest rates and the ones that get hurt the most are your families and small businesses not the politico elite calling the shots.

Inflation is a silent killer of wealth. As time goes on and inflation goes up, your buying power becomes less and less with the same amount of money. For example, in 1995, what you could buy for $1,000 would cost between $1,650 and $1,700 in 2019. That's a 65% cumulative rate of inflation over 24 years.

So how do you fight inflation? Real estate. Real estate is the best hedge against inflation. This is because when inflation rises, so does the property value, and so does the amount of rent a landlord can charge.

Another thing that does not get talked about often is depreciating debt. The debt you owe on the property is actually depreciating in value with the rate of inflation. For example, if your mortgage payment is $1,000, in ten years, due to inflation, your debt is going to be worth far less.
