25 years ago today, our country changed forever. September 11, 2001 is one of those moments in history where people can still tell you exactly where they were when they heard the news. Everything seemed to stop. Families gathered around televisions, phones started ringing, and a generation watched history unfold in real time.
I was only a few months old that morning. I obviously donβt remember the moment myself, but Iβve heard my mom tell the story of where she was and how sheβll never forget seeing it come across the screen while I was just a baby laying beside her. Even though I was too young to understand it, that moment became a part of my story through hers.
And I think thatβs part of why we continue to remember.
We remember the lives lost. The families forever changed. The first responders, firefighters, police officers, military members, medical professionals, volunteers, and everyday people who showed incredible courage and selflessness in the face of unimaginable circumstances.
25 years later, the significance of that day has not faded.
If anything, it reminds us to have deeper gratitude for those who serve, to never take the sacrifices of others for granted, and to remember the people behind the history.
Today, we pause to remember those we lost, honor those who ran toward danger, and hold close the stories of those who were there.
We remember. We honor. We will never forget. πΊπΈ
