Beginning May 30th in Kentucky, the Kentucky Highland Renaissance Festival lets you step back into the 1320 Scottish village of Briarwood to experience life at the time! Armored knights thunder across the arena during full jousting matches, while the mud show brings the kind of messy comedy that always pulls a crowd. Around the village, you can catch fairy-tale performances, circus-style acts, live music on old-time instruments, and costumed characters like the Briarwood Players talking with guests as if everyone has walked into the story. The festival is set in the era of Robert the Bruce, and it’s known as Kentucky’s first permanent Renaissance festival. Visitors can shop for handmade leather goods, swords, jewelry, and clothing, watch blacksmithing and craft demos, play games, ride simple hand-powered rides, and stop at themed spots like Maekala’s Inn, HooDoo’s Pub, and The Twisted Thistle for food, drinks, and entertainment. Many guests come dressed in costume, which makes the village feel even more alive. This rain-or-shine event takes place at 955 Elm St. in Eminence, Kentucky, on Saturdays and Sundays from May 30 through July 19, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Always a fun time for those of all ages!
