This week’s Friday Feature is for the Mid-Century Modern lovers. Custom designed by architect Donald Sickler and tucked away at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, this one-of-a-kind home sits on 1.25 wooded acres and feels more like a private retreat than a Baltimore address.
Inside, the architecture gets to do the talking. Floor-to-ceiling windows and skylights bring the outdoors into nearly every room, while the cantilevered living room practically floats among the trees. Add vaulted ceilings, hardwood floors, a wood-burning fireplace, and built-ins, and this is the kind of room that makes staying home feel like the better plan.
The original St. Charles New York kitchen brings some serious vintage charm, but my favorite part might be just beyond it. An elevated screened gazebo gives you 180-degree views of the surrounding woods, making dinner outside or an afternoon with a good book very hard to resist.
Then there’s the pool. The finished lower level opens right onto the patio and includes a huge rec room with its own fireplace and wet bar, plus a full bath and private guest suite. Translation: pool days can very easily turn into pool nights.
With five bedrooms, multiple flexible living spaces, a three-car garage, and plenty of room to spread out, there’s a lot happening here. But somehow, surrounded by all those trees, it still feels wonderfully tucked away from everything.
