The wind has taken a toll on the leaves today, but now the trails through the woods are bright with yellow leaves! Ironically there was also the first snow falling today up the Gunflint Trail, obviously Fall wanted a new landscape.

The waves on Lake Superior yesterday were a good reminder of the shows it will put on when thr winter storms start!

The lack of rain has really made the rivers and creek low. Let’s hope we have a rainey forecast after the beautiful weather this weekend to get some water in the ground before winter! It’s sad to see Cross River so low.

The landscapes might be changing with the seasons, but some parts aren’t quite yet. Like the loons on the lakes. Maybe they are holding out for those last warm fall days like thr rest of us!

John shared some photos of the maples at Deeryard Lake, the Maples are putting on a show! Get outside and enjoy them before they disappear.

Fall leaf colors are well underway on the North Shore. The maple leaves are the first to turn and the Reds are spectacular right now in sunny areas. Our favorite Fall color tour is taking the Honeymoon Trail in Lutsen to the Barker Lake Rd to Wild Country Maple syrup. Wild Country has a great little shop to purchase syrup, goodies and gifts. It’s a destination stop for lots of folks and we highly recommend the drive to Wild Country!

Well it’s happening, the leaves are changing. It’s early yet, but this year might be one of those years where the colors change fast and are gone in some areas before other spots have even started. Guess we will have to wait and see!

The seasons are changing quickly it seems. Some trees are changing colors, the air is cooler, temps at night are lower and all the wildlife is scrambling to get their stockpiles filled. That includes the bears who are trying to get fat before their winter naps like this guy (or gal) who didn’t care about me (Alisha), only the bird seed he could smell.
Hopefully winter takes its time and we have a nice long fall.
