We LOVE our partnership with the The Virginia 10 Miler!

Tomorrow is race day, and we’re excited to be out on the course cheering on runners and walkers as they make their way down Farm Basket Hill and back up again!

We’re so grateful to the VA 10 Miler team for continuing to include Miriam’s House in this incredible community tradition—and to each participant who chose to make a donation to Miriam’s House through their race registration. Your generosity helps support our work to ensure that everyone in our community has a safe place to call home.

And a HUGE thank you to our amazing crew of volunteers who will be joining us bright and early tomorrow to cheer, encourage, and help keep everyone moving up that hill!

We were so glad to welcome our friends from CAPTRUST Lynchburg to Miriam’s House this week! They stopped by to learn more about our work, tour our Family Shelter, and present us with a generous gift from their Community Foundation.

The Foundation has a special focus on caring for children in the communities where their employees live and work, and we are so grateful that their Lynchburg team chose to support Miriam’s House.

For children experiencing homelessness, having a safe and stable place to call home makes all the difference. This generous support will help us continue to care for children and their families as they move from homelessness toward stability and a home of their own.

Rain couldn’t keep this crew away!

A huge thank you to Sara, Denver, Jason, and Julyanna from America’s Home Place for spending time volunteering with us at Miriam’s House!

Their team jumped right in at our Family Shelter—deep cleaning, organizing donations, and helping prepare a shelter unit after a family recently moved into a home of their own. Their hard work helped us get the space ready to welcome another family experiencing homelessness.

Cleaning and organizing may seem like simple tasks, but they make a real difference. Creating a clean, beautiful, and welcoming space helps families arriving in the midst of crisis feel cared for and allows our team to focus on helping them move toward stability and a home of their own.

We’re so grateful to for showing up, pitching in, and helping us further our mission!

It was a joy to host our friends from Indian Hill Church, who stopped by to say hello, tour our Family Shelter, and hear more about ways they can continue to support our work.

For many years, they have supported Miriam’s House and those we serve through donation drives, volunteering, and financial gifts—and they even surprised us with a generous gift during their visit!

We are always so grateful for this community that continues to stand with us to ensure everyone has a safe place to call home.

We’re excited and grateful to once again be one of the nonprofit beneficiaries of the Kiwanis Club of Lynchburg’s 11th Annual ShrimpFest!

Join Kiwanis on Saturday, October 3 at the Boonsboro Ruritan Club for ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT boiled shrimp, fresh from the docks of North Carolina!

A portion of ticket sales will benefit Miriam’s House, supporting our work to end homelessness for families and individuals in our community.

We’re so thankful to the Kiwanis Club of Lynchburg for continuing to include Miriam’s House in this fun community tradition and for investing in our mission!

We are so proud of our Director of Homeless System Coordination, Olyvia, and her inclusion in the Housing Leadership Institute at Virginia Housing Alliance. Her leadership both at the local level and statewide is commendable and we are grateful for her expertise and commitment to ending homelessness!

We are proud to feature Olyvia Brown-Coles, MPA, a member of our third HLI Cohort. As the Director of Homeless System Coordination at Miriam’s House in Lynchburg, Olyvia leads regional efforts to strengthen the homeless response system through coordinated entry, data management, strategic planning, and cross-sector collaboration. Loved spending the day with our friends at Genworth for their Nonprofit Day!

We had the opportunity to share about the work of Miriam’s House and some of the volunteer opportunities coming up this fall.

A big thank you to Grace, Amy, and Raven from F&G Insurance for spending their Day of Action volunteering with us at Miriam’s House!

They spent the morning helping clean and refresh our Family Shelter, getting spaces ready to welcome the next families who come through our doors.
