We focus on ending homelessness and providing homes to those who otherwise would not be able to afford housing for themselves or their families. Our Agency is committed to improving the city of Lynchburg one house at a time and ultimately changing the way people see Lynchburg. Redevelopment Reminder 📢

As plans for the future Blackwater Hills community continue to move forward, we want to keep residents informed by providing clarity to some of the questions we receive most often.

Here's what residents should know:

✓ A Housing Choice Voucher does not automatically expire after three months.

✓ Relocating does not automatically affect your opportunity to return to the new Blackwater Hills community. Eligible residents who meet program requirements are still be able to return.

✓ Choosing a Housing Choice Voucher does not prevent you from returning to the new community.

✓ For eligible returning residents, rent will continue to follow income-based housing program guidelines.

A reminder to our LRHA landlords and property managers: our NSPIRE-V training is tomorrow, September 29.

With the new HUD inspection standards taking effect October 1, we encourage you to join us for one of tomorrow’s presentations. We’ll walk through the changes and what you need to know as we transition from HQS to NSPIRE-V.

Presentations will be held at 10:30 AM and 12:30 PM at 1948 Thomson Drive.

If you’re unable to attend, all training materials will also be available on the HCV Landlord Portal.

LRHA landlords and property managers, important changes are coming to Housing Choice Voucher inspections.

Starting October 1, HUD is replacing the current Housing Quality Standards (HQS) with NSPIRE-V. The new standards change how HCV units will be inspected, with a greater focus on health, safety and functionality.

LRHA is hosting an NSPIRE-V Landlord Training ahead of the transition to help landlords and property managers understand what the new standards mean for their properties.

Join us for an open-house training covering key changes, correction timelines, updated smoke and carbon monoxide alarm requirements, and steps to prepare for inspections.
