What a great post from our friends at the Lynden Chamber of Commerce. Thanks for including us!
We're in sorta of quandary on this fine Monday.
Sure, it would be wonderful for all concerned for some of the folks from other parts of these great United States to come for a visit to Lynden, not only because our trees to this point are remaining in the upright position, and we have that wonder called "electricity" thanks in large part to Puget Sound Energy and Asplundh Tree Expert, LLC, but we have terrific lodging option for visiting guests, as our many summer visitors now, in all seasons of weather.
The Inn at Lynden for those looking for the boutique experience, the Cobblestone Hotel & Suites - Lynden for those family looking for breakfast and a pool, the The Lynden/Bellingham KOA Campground for those camping adventurers, and Oostema Farmstead, Lynden for those 18 and above looking for a quieter camping or on-site lodging experience.
Not to mention the Silver Reef Casino Resort, the Semiahmoo Resort out by the water, and of course our Lynden time-share experience at Vacation Internationale at Homestead.
The quandary of mixed emotions comes when visitors check us out.
"Wow, nice wide streets" they say.
"Look at the nice parks!" they tell their youngsters.
"What nice sidewalks to stroll and streets to drive and trails to meander" they state matter of factly.
And the kicker of them all "The people around here are so nice and friendly! Why, just walking down the sidewalk just now we have three complete strangers smile and say "hello'!"
At that point we just need a hotline to The Muljat Group North, or a two-way radio to Jerry Blankers - Muljat Group North himself. "Jerry, we have some folks looking to move."
Or Kathy Stanford of Keller Williams can cruise in quickly in the Realtymobile, ready to show 'em a home.
We suppose we could set up a RE/MAX Whatcom County - Lynden drive-thru, just cruise up, get some house information, and "vroooom", off they go.
Maybe an instazoom's with Karen Timmer at Windermere Whatcom, or hadn't signals across the street from the Lynden Chamber at Desert and Pine Homes.
How about tours about town by HomeSmart One Realty and the Pacific Pines Properties team, with hot cocoa and home made cookies?
Yes, we have a number of locally-based, hometown-grown, well experienced first rate realtors in and around town to assist folks with selection and purchase, we're not full-full, but we're might close, and with those tax and rate payer subsidized ADU's springing up like weeds in a flower bed, the cool houses with a yard and such seem to be gold.
(By the way, we were reliably told one can put legally binding restrictions on the sale of the property to prevent future generations from crowding folks tighter than cattle at the auction yard.)
But we certainly like visiting with those visitors, and so many of those new folks are appreciative of calling Lynden home, and do contribute to making the place better by given of their time, talents and treasure, (oh, and taxes, the 4th "T"), they do make the place a touch better.
So, all in all, we suppose not a bad quandary to be in, and for those in the weather yucky's, head our way. Winter seems to be on pause, and while it may rain, you'll still be loved in Lynden!
