What makes a neighborhood feel like home? Often, it’s the places where you start becoming a regular. ☕️

This week's spotlight is Haven Cafe in Lynnwood, a newer local spot near Edmonds College designed for everything from a quick coffee run to studying, working or catching up with friends.

And coffee is only part of the story here. Haven’s menu stretches from espresso and specialty lattes to boba and premium Uji matcha, along with some seriously good eats, making it the kind of place where everyone can find their order.

When you’re buying a home, the roof is one of those things you definitely want to understand before closing.

🏡 How old is it? Has it leaked? Has it been repaired? Is there documentation? And is replacement likely to be a near-term expense?

A roof doesn’t need to be brand new for a home to be a good buy, but knowing its age, condition, and history can help you make a much more informed decision.

What makes a neighborhood feel like home? Sometimes, it starts with knowing where to get a really good cup of coffee. ☕️

This fall, I'm highlighting locally owned coffee shops that help give our communities their character, and taking a closer look at what’s actually in the cup.

First stop: Walnut Street Coffee, an Edmonds community gathering place since 2006. Walnut serves coffee roasted by Seattle’s Espresso Vivace, and its menu connects to several other local and regional makers, too.

Note: if you need to purchase or replace any major household appliances, September and October are usually when the latest models are revealed and are the best months to buy them.
