What the " lanai" does after dark
Here is what a condo lanai at 9pm gives you that a hotel does not.
It gives you the dark. Real dark, the kind where you can actually see stars, because so much of Maui away from the resort strips has very little light pollution. On a clear, moonless night, you step out onto the lanai, let your eyes adjust for a few minutes, and the sky fills in. Not the dozen stars you see over a mainland city. Thousands of them. The Milky Way as an actual band of light across the sky. Satellites tracking across. The occasional meteor in the summer.
