Just wanted to share this disturbing chart of sold homes in Illinois from 2008-20013. The traditional sale (One where someone puts his house on the market and it sells) took a nose dive. Since 2012 it has been back on the rise, but the numbers are still very low. REO properties (Ones that the bank own after taking it back from a buyer for being behind on his payments) have risen up through the years. Below it you see short sales (Where the home owner discovers he is underwater with his mortgage, and works something out with the bank where they would have to give up the property but their credit isn’t destroyed for seven to ten years. REO properties do a lot of damage. Short sales help out. It is my goal… no wait… It’s our goal (as I work with an amazing team) to get the numbers of short sales higher and to help more people through those troublesome times.
