New Street Properties

New Street Properties New Street Properties, LLC began its journey more than 20 years ago, during this time we have redeveloped several Downtown Macon properties.

We find great pride in our city and strive to contribute to its economic growth and development. The Library Ballroom was built in 1889 as Macon's first public library. It has been recently renovated both to restore its historic beauty and to provide modern conveniences. The 2200-square-foot ballroom is equipped with several technological advances. The ballroom can comfortably accommodate up to 22

5 people. Please contact us or visit our website to learn more about our rates and services. Brief History -
The Library Ballroom was originally designed by D.B. Woodruff and commissioned by the Macon Public Library and Historical Society (MPLHS) to house Macon’s first public library. The library was located on the second floor and included every convenience of the day. The first floor has been rented out to local businesses throughout the years. In 1916, a site on Washington Street was donated to the MPLHS by Ms. Ellen Washington Bellamy, and a new library building was constructed. The library moved to its new site at the corner of Washington Street and College Street in the 1920’s. During the 1960’s, 652 Mulberry Street was a favorite venue for local musicians, the Allman Brothers Band, to play. Eventually, the ballroom fell into disuse, but was later acquired by the Historic Macon Foundation. More recently, the building was purchased by Tony Widner, who performed a complete renovation to restore the building to its original beauty. In 2007, the building was awarded by the Historic Macon Foundation for the renovations and was placed on the National Registrar of Historic Places.

On this day in 1941, The King and Prince Beach Club, a seaside dance club originally opened in 1935, rebranded and reopened as The King and Prince Hotel. Cheers to more than 80 years of welcoming guests to St. Simons Island with gracious Southern hospitality!
