This week I was talking to a realtor about how being driven by your passion is imperative in life and work. Your mindset has to be solid too.
Example A.
I’m always reminded of my classic “first time showing a home in the middle of a Wisconsin winter.”
In January 2020, Some of my most favorite clients were looking for an oasis where they could enjoy nature since they both work from home. They were almost empty nesters too and were looking forward to a new normal.
The night before the area we were heading to had gotten 8- 12 inches of snowfall. It was about 45 min North of where we lived. Unfortunately neither the streets or the driveway were able to be plowed prior to our showing time.
My internal dialogue:
Totally fine, totally fine. House is on acres, but totally fine. We won’t accidentally miss it. We will find it.
We get there: Can’t see the house…walk a good 10 minutes following what we believe to be driveway. Still no house.
We laugh, question a couple times making sure everyone is good. I feel like the house was at least 1/2 a mile off the road.
Get to the house and find the lock box. The old school ones that seem super easy to deal with not having to rely on internet. Well…this is a LOT more difficult when it is completely frozen and so are our fingers. I really didn’t know if we were going to get inside the house.
We get in:
It’s fine, not what they’re really looking for.
This by far is one of my most favorite stories. How many people can say they’ve done this? I felt like a kid again. You can tell by my smile how fun this was for me to roll with it. Of course I was worried about my clients and keeping my cool, but it wasn’t hard. It was an experience I won’t forget, I knew that then and I know that now.
The goal was getting into the house to see if my clients liked it. We accomplished the goal and ended up finding them the perfect place to build a new home about an hour and a half south of this home.
