The 2020 Census is officially out!!! Lets see how Dane County stacks up!!

Dane County Population:
2010: 488,072
2020: 561,504
Change: 15% Increase

City of Madison Population
2010: 233,209
2020: 269,840
Change: 15.7% Increase

Dane County had an incredible decade of growth, growing over twice the national average (7.4%) and over 4 times as the rest of the state (3.6%). So what does this say for Real Estate?

Crystal Ball Time..... Real Estate prices aren't going to come down anytime soon. There is simply too much demand and too little supply. Over the next decade, we may see some faster population increase outside of Dane county with cheaper housing and the advent of 'work from home'. But much of the new population are young professionals who like having the amenities of city living nearby.

Last tidbit, It may be close, but there is a chance we see the Madison-Janesville CSA (Dane, Green, Columbia, Iowa, Sauk, and Rock County) push over the 1 million population mark by 2030. Exciting times await!! 😉
