Cataloochee Valley in Great Smoky Mountains National Park is one of our favorite places to experience these incredible animals, and you may also spot them around Cherokee and the Oconaluftee area.

Early mornings and late afternoons are generally great times to look, and fall brings an extra-special experience when the elk rut gets underway and the sound of bull elk bugling can echo through the mountains. 🍁🏔️

Just remember, these are wild animals. Give them plenty of space, never feed or approach them, and let that camera zoom do the work. 📸

Once one guest checks out, our teams get to work cleaning, resetting, restocking, checking amenities, preparing linens, servicing hot tubs when applicable, and making sure the property is ready to welcome the next arrival.
