Our family been so touched by the kindness and generosity of so many during this difficult time in our area of the country. Many have lost much; some have lost everything. Our family, staff and loyal customers, both local and from other areas as far away as Florida have all participated in making soup, bringing food, water, diapers, and other necessities, as well as giving donations to the people affected by the catastrophic floods that have hit our area and the surrounding communities. The situation in our town has improved greatly, and we are so thankful to the dedicated men and women who are our first responders, our town and local officials, many governmental groups working together, FEMA, Duke Energy, phone and Internet companies and all who are working to bring some sense of normalcy back to Maggie Valley. Our primary roads are good to travel, thanks to many who have cleared them.
We are painfully aware of the crisis which will exist for a long time for the families and businesses in our community; we also know that our staff all need an income to survive this disaster and our guests need places to go to lift their spirits, especially now that Mother Nature blesses us with her splendid colors in our mountains. Closing our doors does nothing to help the situation. Our family has thought long,, hard and collaboratively with sensitivity as to what we should do. We have decided to take it week by week for the next few weeks and therefore we will be open from Thursday through Sunday this coming week. We will add to the schedule as we see fit. We will continue to pray and reach out as best we can to those in Maggie and surrounding communities who need help. This is an unprecedented time in our community, but we will get through it day by day by working together to help our communities build back even better. We are grateful for your continued support and understanding in our decision and hope to see many of you in the coming weeks. God bless all!
