UPDATE BUDDY FOUND HIS FOREVER HOME ❤️
Meet Buddy, He's Looking for His Forever Home ❤️
Back in February, a scared stray dog started showing up in our Wildtree community off FM 1486. He lived alone in the woods, surviving however he could. Many of us began feeding him every day, hoping that one day he'd trust people enough to let us help him.
Unfortunately, because he was too fearful to be touched, Animal Control had to safely dart him so he could finally receive the care he deserved.
And what a transformation it has been...
Today, Buddy is:
🐾 Neutered
🐾 Fully vaccinated
🐾 Dewormed
🐾 Healthy
🐾 Potty trained
🐾 Walks beautifully on a leash
🐾 Doesn't bark
🐾 Very calm and low-energy
🐾 Loves his dog bed
🐾 Loves hearing "Good boy!" and "You're so handsome!"
🐾 Has discovered that pets, cuddles, and kindness are actually pretty amazing.
Shelter life was incredibly stressful for him. He arrived weighing 31 pounds but became so overwhelmed that he stopped eating and spent much of his time shaking in his kennel. Knowing he needed a break, I was able to foster him for 7 days, which was the maximum my apartment complex allowed.
Now Buddy is with an amazing foster, Andy, who has opened his heart and home to him. Over the next 30 days, Buddy is learning:
❤️ Basic commands like sit, stay, and maybe even shake
❤️ Kennel training
❤️ Socialization
❤️ That people can be trusted
Every single day his personality shines a little brighter.
Buddy is still shy when meeting new people, and that's completely understandable after everything he's been through. He isn't aggressive—he's simply learning that the world isn't as scary as he once believed. Once he feels safe, he's incredibly affectionate and enjoys being close to his people.
He also does well around other animals. He mostly keeps to himself and is more timid than reactive.
The best part? Buddy is the perfect size for both a house or an apartment. He's not a high-energy dog that needs constant activity. He's happiest taking slow walks, relaxing nearby, and simply having someone to love.
⏳ We now have just 28 days to find Buddy his forever family before he has to return to the shelter. The Montgomery County Shelter also does transportation to other states!
After everything he's overcome, we'd love nothing more than for him to skip another kennel stay and instead start the next chapter of his life in a loving home.
Please share this post. You never know who may be looking for a loyal best friend.
If you or someone you know may be interested in meeting Buddy, please send me a message. Let's give this sweet boy the happy ending he has worked so hard for.
