In case you were wondering why we named this Point Dume property
PEACOCK ALLEY!

The Piano bar at Peacock Alley take two: I glitched on yesterday‘s post, so here we go again… one of our favorite places in New York is the Central Park boathouse restaurant. They have a fabulous Piano Player in the bar who fills the restaurant at night with the sounds of the great American songbook. It’s romance personified and since Peacock alley is designed to inspire love and connection, we took a page from their book and created this mid-century moment. How many living rooms do you know that have their own piano bar? Love to hear your thoughts!

3500 PEACOCK FEATHERS!!! Don’t worry, peacock, drop their feathers naturally. The powder room at Peacock Alley is a nod to the wild Wuertz that roam Point Dume, Malibu. To call them wild is actually a stretch because everyone feeds them so they’re very tame, they will come up to you to ask for food and if you’re lucky, in spring time, they’ll even show off their Peachicks to you. Included in the sale of the house is even you’re very own family of peafowl and if you’ve never had a Peacock egg, you’re in for a treat! They are rich and delicious.

The living room at Peacock Alley on Point Dume was dark, dated and depressing. So we knocked out a bunch of walls, connected it to the outdoors, and added one of my favorite details in the house, which is a bona fide Piano bar!

PROTIP the way a house is designed cannot only reflect who you are and how you live, but even better it should inspire you to add new activities and pleasures to your life. Our opening night party for this project included one of LA‘s top studio Musicians, Richard Ruttenberg on keyboard, playing the great American songbook.
As our guests entered to those romantic sounds, you could see their behavior change – – shoulders lowered, hips, swayed, and everyone started smiling with associations from those great old tunes.

Today’s pro tip: when you’re assessing a home, pretend that none of the rooms has a name. Imagine what it would look like if you turned a bedroom into a kitchen or a kitchen into an office. Figure out what rooms are most important you, then assign the best spaces to those rooms. Moving utilities is much less trouble than you think it’s going to be so if you want to turn a a family room into your kitchen, like we did here at Peacock Alley it’s very doable and I think the results speak for themselves.

It’s not every day a gorgeous Bond Girl gives a tour of your latest property! The fabulous Jane Seymour, who was kind enough to lend one of her gorgeous paintings to Peacock Alley, discovered it for the first time in the primary bedroom—along with a copy of “Malibu Magazine” showing her on the cover, wearing the very same dress she wore in the picture and the same hat she wore to the party. What’re the chances???
