To all fellow residents of Manchester and surrounding, especially the renter population:

There is and has been a scam going on in this area for years now. It involves rental listings. Very often, the scam artist will copy a rental listing (posted by an agent or property manager, or even home owner), including the description and all of the photos, and then re-post it as their own rental listing. They drop the price in half, so it is an unusually rare offering, prompting a significant amount of interest. Then typically what will occur, is the interested renter will inquire, and the scammer will tell them a story (either they don't have the keys to get into the property at the moment, or it is no longer managed by the other party that has the other listing, etc) to get them to pay them a deposit to 'hold' the property until they are able to see it.

We have been seeing this scam for years in this area, and we have alerted the media, but unfortunately this is still out there and people are being taken advantage of.

P.S. Dont knock on any doors that have REAL cobwebs in the doorway! A sure sign of an abandoned (and spooky) house. Let us know about it though! Maybe they need to SELL!!
