Sunny Side Jazz Band

Sunny Side is a New Orleans-based jazz band inspired by early jazz greats like Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Nat King Cole, and Fats Waller. The band takes its name from the 1930 jazz standard “On the Sunny Side of the Street”, a fitting tribute to the joyful spirit they bring to every performance. Formed in 2019, Sunny Side consists of seasoned musicians who have been playing together in various New Orleans jazz projects since 2017. They deliver a New Orleans-style jazz experience featuring rich 3-part harmonies, a driving rhythm section, and a dynamic vocalist and dancer who brings the music to life. Their shows are immersive and high-energy, audiences are encouraged to dance, sing along, and soak in the joyful atmosphere that defines their hometown

Betty Shirley Band

Betty Shirley is a legendary vocalist extraordinaire, artist, and teacher whose extensive repertoire ranges through modern and traditional jazz, blues, R&B, bossa nova, and her own original compositions. Critics laud her range and vocal skills, while audiences love her engaging and warm performances. She cut her vocal chops at a young age in NYC clubs like Birdland & The Village Gate, appearing around the world at festivals, before making New Orleans her home over 30 years ago. In this trio of drums, organ & vocals she’ll dazzle audiences with her amazing vocal range and sensibilities with classics from Nina Simone, Etta James & Betsy Smith.

Presented by the Friends of the Dew Drop, this concert will feature home-cooked food for purchase provided by the Ladies of First Free Mission Baptist Church, located next door. Soft drinks, water, beer and wine will be available for purchase. The concert begins at 6:30pm and will run till 9pm.

Admission is $15 per adult. Students and children can enter free. No outside food or drinks are allowed and lawn chairs can be used outside the hall on the grounds. Please, no smoking allowed on premises, and no pets allowed.
