It's National Chips and Dip Day. I normally try to eat fresh veggies and dip but sometimes a person just needs to indulge. Today was the excuse I needed! We are having tortillas chips and my very favorite dip - quacamole! Maybe you prefer 7-layer dip with Fritos? potato chips with onion dip? pita chips with spinach artichoke dip? Fritos with chili cheese dip? pita chips with hummus, Kettle Cooked Potato Chips with loaded baked potato dip? Tortilla chips with raspberry black bean dip? If you needed a reason, you now have it... enjoy whatever your fav chips and dip might be 😃

Happy St. Patrick's Day!! I was born the night of March 16th – just a few hours later and I would have been born on St. Patrick’s Day… and since I’m 60% Irish, that would have been cool. But, luckily, I can celebrate the day and my heritage in a big way every year! Many of our Downtown Manhattan and Aggieville restaurants will be featuring some Irish foods and of course green beer! Be sure to head to Aggieville on Saturday for the St. Patrick's Day Parade and Road Race. It was first held in 1978 so this year marks the 44th annual parade! The road races begin at 10 AM and 10:45 AM and the parade begins at 1:00 PM. Have your children bring bags for their candy! It’s a really good parade and lots of fun!

Head down to Brother's Coffee Co, 1437 Anderson Avenue, on Monday (National Pi Day) to get a slice of Therapie's amazing homemade pies. They will donate a portion of pie sales to Habitat for Humanity!
And now for a little history:
March 14 is National Pi (π) Day, the annual celebration of a never-ending number. The celebration started in 1988 at the San Francisco Exploratorium, a public learning laboratory exploring science, art, and human perception. Larry Shaw, former staff physicist, linked March 14 with the first digits of pi (3.14) in order to organize a special day to bond the Exploratorium staff; he offered fruit pies and tea to everyone starting at 1:59 pm, the following three digits of the value. The celebration includes a remembrance of Albert Einstine whose birthday is 3/14. Congress declaired it a national holiday in 2009.

Did you know reading to your baby and toddler means your child will learn to read earlier and faster, and learning to read early creates a strong foundation for your child to be successful in preschool and kindergarten? If you have a little one, check out the 1's and 2's storytime every Tuesday 10:00 - 10:30 AM, and the Baby Rhyme Time every Tuesday 11:00 - 11:30. Register in advance on the Manhattan Public Library website. The spaces fill up fast so try to sign up a week in advance if possible. And check out some board books while you are there - they have a wonderful collection of books for babies and toddlers. Happy Reading!

Take advantage of the weather and walk the Cottonwood Nature Trail. When you get some exercise in nature, it improves mental and physical health! I really enjoy this trail.

The Columbian Theatre at Wamego presents "Hoo Haw" based on the popular Hee Haw show from yesterday. Why do cows like being told jokes? “ Because they like being amoosed.” and we know you do too! August brings the return of The Columbian Theatre’s annual performance of Hoo Haw.

Get your tickets for THIS WEEKEND because it’s time to laugh and sing until the cows come home. Veteran actor and director Troy Hemphill leads The Columbian Theatre’s annual favorite with new skits, songs, and knee-slappers. This whimsical live music performance is a real hoot with its mediocre comedy. The familiar, fun-loving cast always packs the house.
