There’s not another view of Lake Michigan quite like the one you get at Inspiration Point, where the shoreline seems to stretch forever below you. Also called the Arcadia Overlook, this scenic stop sits along M-22 just north of Arcadia, with views of blue water, wooded hills, dunes, and open sky. M-22 climbs quickly from near lake level, making the overlook feel like a balcony above Lake Michigan. You can take in a great view from the lower area, but the full experience comes from climbing 120 wooden steps that rise a little more than 80 feet to the upper deck. From there, the view opens even wider from the highest point in Manistee County. Summer brings deep green woods and bright blue water, while fall covers the hills in red, orange, and gold. Winter adds snow and ice along the bluff and shoreline. Sunset is beautiful, with pink, orange, and gold light spreading across the lake. Whether you climb to the top or stop briefly, Inspiration Point is unforgettable.
