Please, please pay attention to the fire warnings! It is so very dry right now. No bonfires at the moment either! Understand that if there was a fire close to the resort, it could burn the whole place down. This last one was close. County Road 440 runs right in front of the resort. This was out on FH-13, but there’s only acres and acres of wooded dry forest between there and the resort. Crews can only do so much. Thanks for doing your part to protect the forest! HIGHWAY 13 FIRE UPDATE: Local, state, and federal firefighters cooperated to contain the fire 100% overnight using aircraft, heavy equipment, and engine modules. Crews remain on scene and the public can expect to see fire engines and personnel along the road. FOR EVERYONE'S SAFETY, PLEASE DRIVE SLOWLY ON HIGHWAY 13 between County Road 440 and County Road 442.
If you fly, we can’t. Flying drones or UAS within or near wildfires without permission may affect aerial firefighting and could cause injury or death to firefighters and hamper their ability to protect lives, property, and natural or cultural resources.
Fire danger remains very high across the Upper Peninsula. Prevent fires by exercising good judgement and extra caution. Learn how to be safe with fire at https://www.nifc.gov/fire-information/fire-prevention-education-mitigation/wildfire-prevention
